Samsung Has Permanently Stopped Producing The Galaxy Note 7

Following the postponement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launch in Nigeria and other countries, Samsung has announced their decision to stop the production of Galaxy Note 7 units worldwide.

In a press release the company stated that, “We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. For the benefit of consumers’ safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 and have consequently decided to stop production.”

Meanwhile, customers with either an original Galaxy Note 7 or a replacement Galaxy Note 7 device are advised to power down and stop using the device. They are to return their devices to Samsung-authorised service centres, where they’ll be guided with available options. Those who have already returned their Galaxy Note 7 devices will also be contacted from Samsung for their options.

Speaking on this new development, Director and Business Leader, Information Mobile and Technology, Samsung West Africa, Emmanouil Revmatas, has apologised on behalf of the company, saying, “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to customers and partners who have trusted and waited for the Galaxy Note 7.”

Here’s hoping Samsung bounces back from this.
